Civil Rights Conference

University of South Carolina - Columbia, SC

This event brought together scholars, educators, and museum experts alongside civil rights veterans to discuss the vital importance of historical interpretation and preservation.

  October 2024 - Videographer & Editor

During a week long assignment at the University of South Carolina, I documented the inaugural Civil Rights Conference to create a lasting brand film and historical archive. The event brought together museum experts and scholars alongside original civil rights veterans to discuss the preservation of the movement's legacy. As the week unfolded, my objective shifted from standard event coverage to a dedicated documentary approach, ensuring the voices of the activists remained the heart of the narrative.

The film is designed to showcase the intentional handoff of knowledge from the past to the present. I utilized an observant, fly on the wall style to capture the authentic interactions between the veterans and the students, documenting a moment in time where history was actively being interpreted and preserved. This project stands as a testament to the power of storytelling in driving continued social progress.
